SEGA was releasing many things back in 1994 when the Activator came out, you were not supposed to expect something great, and, if great, not cheap or underrated. From some of those things suffered the Activator, because its infrared signal was pretty good for that time.Besides, even if the Activator was a failure, that does not mean that there was no intention in going further ahead with technology.

What I'm simply concerned about is the originality of peripherals, and so far, SEGA innovated on almost everything other companies tried to make successful in the last 15 or 20 years. Check out the Activator, the SEGA VR, The DreamcastRemote, FishingRod, the SambadeAmigo accesory. It was way ahead of the VirtualBoy, Natal, WiiMote and WAND... and I'm just ounting originality, not performance.
